Board of Directors Board appointments

Board of Directors Board appointments

Board appointments are appointed to the Board of Directors. Part of their role is to represent geographic areas that are underrepresented by elected Board members. Applicants’ specialty, career stage and gender may also be considered in order to better balance board representation.

The Board of Directors is the directing and governing body that works on behalf of Doctors Nova Scotia between annual meetings. Board appointments join a range of elected and appointed colleagues, including the Board Executive, elected members, Nova Scotia’s representative on the Canadian Medical Association’s board of directors, the Section Forum chair, a resident and a student representative.

Criteria

Being a member of Doctors Nova Scotia and having an interest in serving on the Board of Directors is the only criteria. Participation on other boards or committees is an asset, but not a requirement.

The Nominating Committee will take into consideration the geographic areas that are underrepresented on the Board, and will also strive for balance in areas such as specialty, career stage and gender.

Any member with the right to hold an office (full members, retired members, members on leave, clinical assistants) is eligible to apply, as outlined in Section 1 of the Rules & Regulations.
