The focus and driving force of the Choosing Wisely Nova Scotia (CWNS) campaign is to improve the quality of care for all patients and reduce the potential for harm. Choosing Wisely Nova Scotia has identified that the number of available tests and treatments keep growing, but many are only useful in specific circumstances. Choosing Wisely Nova Scotia are reviewing the research and identifying which medical tests and treatments are overused in the local context.
Choosing Wisely Nova Scotia coordinates provincial efforts through collaboration with Doctors Nova Scotia, IWK Health, Nova Scotia Health, Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine, Nova Scotia College of Family Physicians, Worker’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, and student and patient representatives.
