The province’s Doctors Nova Scotia Medical Act states that all physicians licensed to practise medicine in Nova Scotia must be members of DNS. Membership offers Nova Scotia physicians extended health and dental coverage, a professional support program and a parental leave program, among many other benefits.
As members of DNS, physicians are also part of a united voice that advocates for a properly supported health-care system, quality health-care delivery and a healthier Nova Scotia.
To become a DNS member, you must be one of the following:
- A licensed physician in Nova Scotia
- A student enrolled in Dalhousie Medical School or a Nova Scotia student enrolled in Université de Sherbrooke’s medical school
- A resident with Maritime Resident Doctors or a fellow sponsored by a licensed physician in Nova Scotia
