What everyone should know about intimate partner violence

Doctors Nova Scotia (DNS), in partnership with the Transition House Association of Nova Scotia, will be hosting a webinar on what everyone should know about intimate partner violence. This session is designed to increase awareness, build practical skills and equip physicians to support those at risk.

At the conclusion of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize warning signs and risk factors for intimate partner and domestic violence (CanMEDS roles: communicator, health advocate).
  2. Respond effectively to individuals experiencing or at risk of experiencing IPV/DV (CanMEDS roles: communicator, health advocate).
  3. Refer individuals to appropriate local supports and resources (CanMEDS roles: communicator, health advocate, collaborator).
  4. Use the SNCit conversation method to engage in supportive, validating conversations with victims/survivors (CanMEDS roles: communicator).

This activity meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by Dalhousie University Continuing Professional Development and Medical Education for up to 2.0 Mainpro+ Certified Activity credits. 

This activity is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by Dalhousie University Continuing Professional Development and Medical Education. You may claim a maximum of 2.0 hours (credits are automatically calculated).
