Dr. Glenn Richardson will share the opportunities for surgical robotics to fundamentally change how orthopaedic surgeons perform total joint arthroplasty (e.g., hip and knee surgeries) and lead to better patient outcomes.
Dr. Glen Richardson
Dr. Glen Richardson specializes in adult primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Science Centre. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Richardson received a Master of Science degree in Health Informatics from the University of Victoria, BC. He is an associate professor of orthopaedic surgery at Dalhousie University. Dr. Richardson has held leadership positions both locally and nationally including President of the Canadian RSA Network, President of the Nova Scotia Orthopaedic Society, Medical Co-Chair for Perioperative Quality Committee at the Nova Scotia Health Authority and Chair of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association Professional Development Committee. Presently, Dr. Richardson’s research interests include using RSA to evaluate knee and hip implant fixation. In addition, he is studying the application of innovative technology, such as robotic surgery, to improve surgical outcomes of total hip and knee arthroplasty. Dr. Richardson values collaboration and has contributed to national multicenter studies. As past program director for the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Richardson continues to participate in the surgical education of learners at all levels. He maintains professional affiliation with the Canadian Orthopaedic Society, Canadian Arthroplasty Society, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, Personalized Arthroplasty Society and the International RSA Society.
