Tropical and Geographic Medicine Intensive Short Course

Recurring Event

daily, starting from Monday, May 3rd, 2021 - 12:00 PM, until Friday, May 7th, 2021 - 7:24 PM
The annual Tropical and Geographic Medicine course aims to provide health practitioners an important update and overview of key tropical diseases, with a focus on providing care in resource-limited settings as well as in Canada. This course is the first of its kind in western Canada. Over 300 physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals have successfully completed this course.

This is the 8th annual week-long course for physicians, medical trainees, public health practitioners, nurses and other healthcare workers who intend to practice in the tropics, resource-limited settings or who require an update on infectious, parasitic and other major tropical diseases.

Through virtual interactive lectures, small-group case-based discussions and practical laboratory teaching, attendees will learn:

• A clinical approach to the evaluation and management of tropical diseases;

• Practical laboratory skills, with a focus on the identification of parasites important for the diagnosis of tropical diseases;

• Public health principles and applications including outbreak management.

Each of these areas has specific learning outcomes for course participants.  See course website for full course brochure and more information.
