CMA webinar: Reflections on the TRC 10-year anniversary — progress to date, gaps that remain

A virtual dialogue with colleagues acknowledge the ongoing health disparities affecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, recognize the positive progress that has been made and reflect on how physicians and medical associations can continue to advance Indigenous health and well-being.

In recognition of the 10-year anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s (TRC) Final Report, this session will be moderated by CMA Indigenous Advisor in Residence Dr. Alika Lafontaine and will:

  • explore the TRC recommendations that relate to health care and their implications for individuals and institutions;
  • highlight the progress made to date on the TRC Calls to Action that relate to health care and barriers to change;
  • explore the role of physicians and other health care leaders in advancing reconciliation in their own spheres of influence; and
  • showcase positive solutions that are impacting change in health care and improving health outcomes for Indigenous Peoples.
