Family physician: Halifax (Richmond Family Practice)

Seeking 12-month locum starting late April. Open to discussing shorter-term options.

Richmond Family Practice and is located at 6155 North Street in the Gladstone Professional Center. The clinic is located on the second floor, above Lawton’s pharmacy. There is plenty of free parking for staff and patients in the parking lot, which includes parking for a Sobeys grocery store across from the Professional Center. It is very convenient to be so close to both a pharmacy and grocery store! This large practice includes 12 family physicians, an ENT physician, a podiatrist and a breast-feeding medicine consultant. There are many members of the administrative team and three members of this team are assigned to work on tasks related to my practice. This clinic also includes access to ECGs on site. This means that you can obtain an ECG immediately for a patient in the office (covered by MSI). This clinic also offers INR testing. The clinic opens at 0730 and closes at 1730. It is also open on Saturday mornings. Large and bright office with big windows. You would have the option of using a second room as exam only if you prefer this. All new equipment.

MedAccess EMR. Other physicians in the clinic use Accuro. The locum physician would take over a 1.0 APP (non-collaborative). We would arrange this through the NSHA and DHW. Overhead is 20% of monthly income of the APP salary. The locum physician would also be responsible for the monthly EMR and online patient portal system fees (approx $455 per month).

Patient roster is 1,400. Well-managed practice and patients are respectful in terms of visit time and expectations. Practice demographics peek in the female age range (50-65) but there are many young families and geriatric patients as well. It is an engaging and interesting mix of patients. Mostly in-person visits. Home visits as well but this would not be required of the locum physician. The locum would have the choice of how to create their schedule and split this between virtual and in-person care. More than happy to discuss patients during maternity leave.
