Tropical and Geographic Medicine Intensive Short Course

The annual Tropical and Geographic Medicine course aims to provide health practitioners an important update and overview of key tropical diseases with a focus on providing care in resource-limited settings as well as in Canada. This course is the first of its kind in western Canada. Over 300 physicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals have successfully completed this course.

This 2022 offering is a live-streamed virtual course with a companion online course in the UBC learning management system, Canvas. Presentations will be recorded and made available to course participants for online viewing afterwards for a limited period.

Accreditation/Certification statement:

The University of British Columbia Division of Continuing Professional Development (UBC CPD) is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME) to provide study credits for continuing medical education for physicians. This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and has been approved by UBC CPD for up to 33.5 MOC Section 1 Group Learning credits. This program meets the certification criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada and has been certified by UBC CPD for up to 33.5 Mainpro+ Group Learning credits. Each physician should claim only those credits accrued through participation in the activity.

This UBC School of Population and Public Health program was co-developed with the UBC Department of Infectious Diseases and was planned to achieve scientific integrity, objectivity, and balance.
