The Department of Family Medicine, Dalhousie University, invites applicants for this leadership position in academic family medicine. This role will hold an academic appointment with the Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University.

The successful applicant will be engaged in a well-established community-based family practice as an academic clinician educator and an active member of the Department of Family Practice of the Nova Scotia Health Authority. This position involves clinical teaching supervision and active staff responsibilities of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

Working with the Dalhousie Family Medicine Halifax Postgraduate Site Director and the Postgraduate Program Evaluation Sub-Committee, support the functioning of the Halifax Site and develop and monitor an in-training assessment program under the guidelines set forward by the Accreditation Standards (Redbook) of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

The successful applicant will support the Halifax Site Director in the oversight and day-to-day operations of the Halifax Site, particularly with regards to the evaluation program, the monitoring of one-45, and the follow-ups on flags in one-45. This position will also review and coordinate evaluation/assessment programs presently in effect and implement new programs and policies as approved by Dalhousie Family Medicine, the Chair of the Postgraduate Program Evaluation Sub-Committee and the Site Medical Education Committee.

The Assistant Postgraduate Site Director – Evaluation Coordinator will act as a local medical education resource for faculty performing assessments, including being familiar with the College of Family Physicians of Canada and Dalhousie Family Medicine Postgraduate Program and the Faculty of Medicine Postgraduate Medical Education program resources and policies.

Academic responsibilities include attending, when possible, the annual Dalhousie Family Medicine Faculty Development Workshop and DFM Faculty Development events as well as attending other appropriate Faculty Development sessions.

This position may also have the opportunity to include clinical FTE at one of the Halifax site family medicine clinics.
