How will the pilot program be evaluated?

This is a joint project between Doctors Nova Scotia and the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness.

How will the pilot project be evaluated?

  • External evaluator: At this time, an external evaluator has been engaged to develop an evaluation framework for this pilot. Billing of health service codes, shadow-billing, patient access, program goals and patient/provider satisfaction will be evaluated, and other metrics may be identified as the evaluation framework is finalized. These metrics will be communicated to participants as soon as possible.
  • Accountability metrics: Throughout the framework development, careful consideration will be given to all potential metrics to ensure that practices participating in the pilot are not faced with excessive paperwork/reporting.
  • Reporting: Practices will be provided with biweekly reports that will allow them to track the Blended Capitation Funding Model against their current funding model, and make changes to their practice to maximize the benefits of the blended capitation funding model.
