H1N1 Prevention

Although there have been many questions surrounding the spread, vaccine and treatment of H1N1, it’s important to remember you can play an important role in minimizing its effect.

By taking precautions and thinking about families, friends, co-workers and communities, we can make important decisions that can help keep all of us healthy. You can help keep your family and your community health these ways:

  1. Get an H1N1 flu shot.

  2. Wash your hands thoroughly and often and avoid touching your face.

  3. Stay home from work or school when sick. Avoid close contact with others until you feel well and stop having symptoms.

  4. Cough into your arms or sleeves.

  5. Frequently clean surfaces like kitchen countertops and doorknobs.

Remember that immunization protects you and all those you come in contact with on a daily basis.

Getting immunized lets others know you care about them.

Keep washing your hands!

Sincerely,

Ross Leighton, BSc, MD, FRCSC, FACS
President
