Dr. Bernard is staff anesthesiologist with Nova Scotia Health and an associate professor with Dalhousie’s Department of Anesthesia, Pain Management and Perioperative Medicine. He is also associate head of his Department.
In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Bernard holds a Master of Science in Health Policy, Planning and Financing (2010). Dr. Bernard previously represented the Canadian Medical Association at the World Medical Association and helped develop health policy around the world.
Before becoming a physician, Dr. Bernard worked for the federal government as a development officer, overseeing projects across Indonesia and the Philippines. He also worked as a teacher in Rwanda and promoted health-care initiatives in Ghana.
